Alex Ashton

When Alex first joined us, we didn’t quite know what job title to give him, so we landed on “the problem solver.” Got a business problem? Take it to Alex. Doesn’t matter how messy, how technical, or how long it’s been sitting in the “too hard” pile. Literally, he’ll figure it out (using AI, data science, process improvement, or whatever combination gets the job done). For now we’ve settled with “AI & Business Optimisation Lead”.

Alex has over 8 year’s experience applying data and emerging technology to real operational problems, and he has a track record of measurable results through custom optimisation. His CV reads like he collects impressive projects for fun: self-driving car research at Jaguar Land Rover, improvement projects around the world for FMCG factories, and optimising supplychains for the UK’s largest supermarkets (just to name a few…)

Originally from South Yorkshire in the UK, and having worked abroad, Alex brings an international perspective on AI and business trends. Lucky for us, he’s settled in NZ and found us! Because, let’s be honest, we’re all a bit hopeless when it comes to tech, and we needed reinforcements.

Outside of work, Alex is a give-anything-a-go sportsman, a ceilidh fiddler, and a self-confessed nerd who’s just as happy tinkering with a side project as he is solving a client’s.
