Head of Technology Platforms & Experience

This role leads the Technology Platforms & Experience function, shaping the future state of platforms and user experience for one of NZ’s best-regarded financial services institutions. It focuses on ensuring the Technology function delivers safe, stable, and sustainable outcomes while enabling future value through platforms, data, and AI for the business. It also drives strong alignment between business needs and technology outcomes.

The Technology function exists to enable safe, stable, and sustainable outcomes for the organisation, whilst unlocking future value through modern platforms, data, and AI.

What you’ll be doing day-to-day:

  • Define and drive platform strategies and roadmaps aligned to business goals.
  • Lead key platform domains (AI, digital workplace, and business platforms).
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify and deliver value through technology.
  • Own demand shaping, prioritisation, and platform evolution.
  • Lead the User Experience Desk to ensure high-quality user outcomes and strong service perception.
  • Establish design standards, patterns, and governance for platform delivery.
  • Work closely with Technology Operations to ensure solutions are operable and sustainable.
  • Build and manage relationships with key external technology partners (e.g. Microsoft, Datacom)
  • Drive adoption of AI and automation aligned to business value.
  • Ensure AI initiatives move beyond pilots into scaled, reusable capabilities.
  • Balance innovation with governance and appropriate control.

You’ll bring to the role:

  • Experience leading platform-based technology functions
  • Proven ability to define and deliver platform strategies and roadmaps
  • Strong experience working across business stakeholders to deliver outcomes
  • Experience across AI, digital workplace, or enterprise platforms
  • Strategic thinking and execution focus
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influence
  • Ability to translate demand into prioritised delivery
  • Governance, standards, and platform design leadership
  • Balancing innovation with control and risk management

Within your first year you’ll have successfully developed and commenced rolling out clear, actionable platform roadmaps in place and progressing; AI and automation will be delivering measurable business value, user experience will have ticked up and there’ll be sizeable improvements in service perception. Our platforms will be saleable, reusable and sustainable. You’ll have played an integral part in ensuring tight synchronisation between business demand and technology delivery.
