The Opportunity

The opportunity We are recruiting for a Financial Modeller to join an established Business Advisory Services team in Auckland.

This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality financial modelling and advisory services that help clients make informed commercial and strategic decisions. You will develop, review and maintain robust financial models while supporting forecasting, valuation, feasibility and investment-related engagements.

You will work closely with Managers, Directors and clients, taking ownership of your work and contributing to the continued development of the wider team.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and enhance financial models for forecasting, valuation and scenario analysis
  • Build structured, transparent and auditable models using best-practice modelling techniques
  • Use Modano to support the development of robust financial models
  • Perform financial analysis for business cases, feasibility studies and investment decisions
  • Conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis to identify key commercial drivers and risks
  • Gather, validate and interpret financial and operational data
  • Prepare reports, dashboards and other client-ready materials
  • Clearly document modelling assumptions, methodologies and outputs
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and understand their businesses and industries
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional value to clients
  • Support the training and development of junior team members where required
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture

About you You will ideally have:

  • A Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent qualification, preferably in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • At least two to three years’ experience in financial modelling or a related area
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • A strong understanding of financial statements and key financial concepts
  • Experience using Modano, although this is preferred rather than essential
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to explain technical financial concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • The ability to manage multiple engagements, priorities and deadlines
  • A proactive, professional and client-focused approach

A CA, CPA or CFA qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
