The Role 

We’re currently representing a leading international mid-market firm seeking an experienced Tax Manager or Senior Manager looking for a step up in a generalist tax function with a focus on inbound & outbound tax engagements.

In this capacity you’ll manage a varied portfolio of clients across multiple industries, providing practical tax advice and delivering high-quality compliance services. You’ll work on both domestic and international tax matters while mentoring junior team members and building long-term client relationships.

This is a permanent full-time mandate based in Auckland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of tax clients.
  • Prepare and review income tax returns and tax calculations.
  • Review tax provisions and financial reporting tax balances.
  • Deliver corporate tax compliance and advisory services.
  • Provide advice on inbound and outbound tax matters.
  • Liaise with Inland Revenue on reviews, audits and tax disputes.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Coach, mentor and develop junior members of the tax team.
  • Assist Partners and Directors with complex advisory and consulting projects.
  • Research and interpret tax legislation to provide practical commercial advice.

About You

You’ll be an experienced tax professional with strong New Zealand tax knowledge who enjoys working directly with clients and solving complex tax issues.

Ideally you’ll have:

  • CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in New Zealand taxation.
  • Experience within a Chartered Accounting or tax legal environment.
  • Strong corporate tax compliance and advisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Experience mentoring or leading team members.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with software such as Xero, APS, CCH or TaxLab would be advantageous.
