Senior Accountant – 12 Month fixed term



About the Company
One of New Zealand’s most successful (and still growing) mid-sized financial services firms, over the last 10 years, they have doubled in size. With operations spanning the entire nation, they are a well-known and respected business with long-term business relationships.

They are mainly relationship and marketing-led, so they have an upbeat culture which is reflected in their finance team.

The finance team is of a high calibre, with most coming from CA firm backgrounds. They take their work seriously but not themselves! They have around 15 people in their finance function.

About the Role
This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance across the business. Working closely with senior finance leaders, you’ll contribute to month-end and year-end processes, audit preparation, and statutory reporting. It offers strong exposure to group reporting and the opportunity to influence systems and processes within a supportive, high-performing finance team.
Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations
• Support consolidated and subsidiary year-end financial statements
• Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
• Maintain accruals, prepayments, and tax compliance processes
• Drive improvements in financial systems and reporting accuracy

You’ll be someone with a good sense of fun but also with a professional approach to work; they are looking for someone who is;

• Ideally, CA (or similar) qualified
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and reporting frameworks
• An effective communicator
• Well organised
• Ideally, a mix of commercial and CA firm experience
