Internal Audit and Risk Partner
A rare opportunity to join the Partner group of a respected international mid-market professional services firm and play a meaningful role in the continued growth and direction of its consulting practice. This appointment will suit an established senior leader who has built a strong reputation in the professional services market and is ready to contribute at a broader level.
The Opportunity
As Internal Audit & Risk Partner, you will be trusted with the leadership and development of key client relationships while continuing to build your presence across the New Zealand market.
You will work closely with fellow Partners to identify new opportunities, deepen existing relationships and ensure clients receive thoughtful, commercially relevant advice and an exceptional level of service.
Just as importantly, you will have an active role in the direction of the firm itself. You will contribute to strategic and business planning, help shape the future of the consulting practice and bring your perspective to conversations around growth, market opportunities, people and investment.
The role encompasses responsibility for:
- Developing and maintaining trusted relationships with senior clients and key stakeholders
- Building and growing a sustainable portfolio of client work
- Identifying and converting new business opportunities across both existing and prospective clients
- Providing leadership and direction across the consulting practice
- Working collaboratively with Partners across the firm to develop broader client opportunities
- Building the firm’s presence and reputation within the New Zealand business community
- Leading, coaching and developing talented professionals at different stages of their careers
- Contributing to the attraction and retention of high calibre people
- Maintaining strong professional and technical standards across the practice
- Contributing to service line and firm wide strategic planning
- Managing commercial performance across areas including pricing, budgets, workflow, resourcing and profitability
- Identifying opportunities to improve the way services are delivered
- Maintaining a strong focus on quality, governance and risk
- The position is ultimately about balancing relationships, people, growth and commercial leadership while helping shape the next stage of the business.
The Person
We are interested in speaking with established professional services leaders who have the credibility and experience to operate comfortably at Partner level.
You are likely to have spent a significant part of your career within a Chartered Accounting or professional services environment and will understand both the commercial and personal dimensions of building a successful practice.
You will bring:
- A CA qualification or equivalent professional qualification (highly desirable)
- At least five years of leadership experience within a Chartered Accounting or Consulting/Professional Services firm
- Demonstrated ability to generate and develop a meaningful fee base
- Experience managing and growing a substantial portfolio of client relationships
- Strong business development capability and an established professional network
- The confidence to engage with business owners, executives and senior stakeholders as a trusted adviser
- Experience leading, developing and retaining high performing professionals
- Track record of influencing change and contributing beyond your immediate area of responsibility
- Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of the financial drivers of a professional services practice
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with practical leadership and execution
- Above all, this opportunity will suit someone who values relationships and reputation.
- You will be commercially ambitious without losing sight of people, comfortable taking ownership and genuinely interested in contributing to the success of the wider partnership.
Why consider the opportunity?
At Partner level, a move is rarely just about a new title.
It is about the people you will work alongside, the clients you want to advise, the platform you can build from and whether you have a genuine opportunity to influence the direction of the business.
This firm offers the scale and reach of an international network while maintaining the accessibility, agility and personal relationships associated with a strong mid market practice.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside an established Partner group, contribute directly to important decisions and build upon an existing platform with meaningful scope for further growth.
For an experienced leader who wants to remain close to clients and people while having a broader influence over strategy and growth, this is a particularly compelling opportunity.
Interested?
If you are an established professional services leader considering your next Partner level move, we welcome a confidential conversation.
