Application Support Specialist – Financial Markets

We’re working with a leading financial services organisation looking for an Application Support Specialist to join its Technology team. This is a great opportunity to work closely with traders, operational teams, technology vendors and developers, supporting critical systems across the trade lifecycle.
About the role You’ll play a key role in supporting applications used across financial markets, with a focus on post-execution trade lifecycle and middle/back-office operations.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Managing incidents and problems, working closely with traders and business stakeholders to resolve issues quickly.
• Monitoring trading applications and infrastructure and identifying potential issues before they impact the business.
• Supporting application upgrades, testing and production changes.
• Working with vendors and internal technology teams on releases and system improvements.
• Supporting UAT environments and coordinating application implementations.
• Maintaining support, disaster recovery and troubleshooting documentation.
• Identifying opportunities to improve and automate processes and workflows.
• Helping manage technology risks and ensuring appropriate controls are in place.

What we’re looking for You’ll ideally bring:

• 5 years’ experience in Application Support.
• Experience supporting post-trade, middle-office or back-office operations.
• A good understanding of the financial markets trade lifecycle.
• Experience across one or more of Equities, FX, Commodities or Derivatives.
• Experience working with FIX, SWIFT or ISO20022.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with Windows Servers and shell scripting.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog.
• Good understanding of ITIL principles.
• Experience working with traders, operational teams and technology vendors.
• An interest in using AI to improve and automate technology workflows.
