Line 1 Financial Crime Risk Analytics Senior Manager



About the Role

We are seeking a senior technical lead to build and drive the long-term Financial Crime data & insight capability across Business Banking and Corporate Banking (BB & CB). In this role, you will act as the technical anchor for Line 1 Financial Crime Risk (FCR)—developing, refining, and optimizing models, tools, and calculators that directly support BAU and strategic project deliverables while meeting key regulatory expectations.
 
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Model Development & Technical Leadership: Lead the advanced analysis, design, extraction, and manipulation of large datasets. Develop and refine FCR models and calculators, ensuring alignment with model standards, tooling, policies, and guardrails.
• Strategic & Tactical Guidance: Influence model assessments and planning to align with strategic analytics services, tools, and platforms. Provide data-driven recommendations for ongoing monitoring and refinement.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Partner closely with Line 2 Financial Crime Compliance (FCC), Financial Crime Operations (FCO), CBA, and wider business teams to provide unified insights and manage competing priorities.
• Complex Problem Solving: Operate effectively in an ambiguous environment, fostering a culture of curiosity and ingenuity to turn complex data into actionable business recommendations.
• Upskilling & Mentorship: Guide, mentor, and inspire colleagues on advanced data science, analytics techniques, and statistical modeling.
• Documentation & Governance: Ensure all systems, rulesets, models, and processes are meticulously documented, maintained, and fully compliant with Group Frameworks and regulatory requirements.

• Fit-for-Purpose Models: High-performing, fully compliant Line 1 FCR models and calculators that accurately reflect regulatory requirements and design specifications.
• Actionable Analytics: Meaningful, high-quality, and timely insights delivered through statistical modeling, data science, and clear data visualization.
• Operational Effectiveness: Translating complex regulatory requirements into practical, operational data solutions.
• Knowledge Elevation: Fostering a continuous learning environment through active technical leadership and cross-team knowledge sharing.

What You Bring to the Role
Experience & Technical Expertise:

• Proven background partnering with Financial Crime, Compliance, and Risk stakeholders to translate regulatory needs into effective analytical solutions.
• Strong understanding of financial crime typologies, customer risk assessment methodologies, transaction monitoring concepts, and regulatory trends.
• Advanced Skills in SQL or SAS (or comparable analytical tools).
• Proficiency in Data Visualization: Advanced expertise in either Tableau or Power BI.
• Proven capability in handling complex datasets, using standard and advanced analytical techniques to interpret results accurately.

• High-level communication and presentation skills—able to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical business stakeholders.
• Persistence to challenge the status quo, solve complex problems, and deliver accurate results under competing priorities.
• Adaptability and a fast-learning mindset to master new tools and systems as required.

Qualifications:

• A tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, or a related discipline is highly advantageous.
