This Kiwi owned business is one of the few New Zealand businesses that have built a reputation globally they operate across the Asia Pacific region with a particular strength in Australia.
They are a key player in the engineering/projects and construction space.
Some More Information About The Role
You'll be working closely with your key internal stakeholders to help them manage their business unit. They are true industry leaders and, as a result, leadership wants them to focus on delivering their projects, so they really need strong financial support in running each part of the business.
You will be responsible for helping your stakeholders to manage their financials but also help them understand other KPIs and wider drivers to help them make informed decisions, improve productivity, profitability, and the quality of the work that they provide to their clients. This is the type of opportunity which will suit an excellent communicator who isn't afraid to challenge those around them.
Some of the key tasks in the role include:
- Monitoring and analysing the performance of projects
- Providing commercial advice to bid leaders, including strategic pricing suggestions and profitability calculations
- Driving the financial performance of projects by working with the business unit leaders and providing insights and expertise throughout the lifecycle of projects
- Analysing the monthly management accounts for the business line, including detailed variance analysis against forecasts
So Who Are You & What Is Your Profile?
You'll be a natural communicator, whose passion lies in the commercial side of accounting. You'll never be at your desk as you'll be spending time getting to know the business. You'll have an understanding of other commercial drivers outside of core finance and how they can affect business results and drive business performance. Experience in a project-focused environment would be a real advantage and some exposure to the construction sector would definitely be great. You'll be able to influence people at all levels and will be comfortable pushing back and challenging stakeholders when needed.
Ideally you will be CA/CPA qualified and you will really need to have a few years commercial experience under your belt.
You will also need to be immediately available for this role with working rights in place to start a role in Auckland.
