Finance Manager

This is more than a traditional Finance Manager role. As the business continues to evolve, there is an opportunity to bring in someone who can look beyond the numbers, provide commercial insight, lead with credibility and become a trusted partner to the leadership team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the CFO and leading a team of four, you’ll work closely with the Senior Management Team and leaders across the business, providing the commercial insight and financial leadership that supports confident decision-making.

This is a broad role that combines financial leadership, business partnering and continuous improvement. You’ll be equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves and staying close to the detail, while also stepping back to provide commercial insight and perspective to the wider business.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading monthly management reporting, including performance analysis and commercial insights
• Partnering with leaders across the business to support decision-making and planning
• Owning budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling
• Preparing annual financial statements and managing the external audit process
• Overseeing tax compliance and payroll governance
• Driving process improvements, systems enhancements and automation initiatives
• Providing leadership and direction to a capable finance team
• Delivering KPI reporting and identifying opportunities to improve performance and efficiency

At its core, this role is about earning trust, building strong relationships and using commercial insight to support the people driving the business forward.

About You

You’re a commercially astute finance professional who enjoys being close to the business and partnering with all sorts of different people to achieve outcomes. You will either be based in the Marlborough region or open to relocating there – perhaps looking to return to your rural roots!

You lead in a calm, practical and approachable way, bring credibility through delivery and are comfortable balancing detail with big-picture thinking. You’re naturally curious, ask thoughtful questions and enjoy partnering with others to solve problems and support good decision-making.

You’ll likely bring:

• CA/CPA qualified with 7 years’ experience
• Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Commercial Finance or Business Partnering role
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insights
• Experience leading and supporting teams
• A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in systems and process optimisation
• Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, primary industries or other product-led environments will be highly regarded
• Most importantly, you’ll be someone who can build credibility quickly, provide calm and confident leadership, and become a trusted partner to both the finance team and wider business.
