Dream jobs don’t exist

They’re like unicorns. Often talked about. But rarely sighted.

We thought it was time to debunk this myth. So let’s explore why you shouldn’t chase that dream and what you should focus on.

1. The great illusion

The reality is, no job is perfect.

Every role comes with its own set of challenges, downsides and rewards.

That’s life.

2. Ditch the daydreaming

Instead of daydreaming about that ‘perfect’ role, grab the opportunities in your current one.

Believe it or not, your present role might be more fulfilling than you think if you LOOK and ASK for the opportunities.

3. Look in the mirror

Unpopular opinion incoming:

Sometimes, the job isn’t the problem. It’s how you’re looking at it.

Are you looking for the opportunities or simmering on all the negatives?

4. Growth over glory

A ‘dream job’ seems glamorous, but what counts is growth.

Choose a career that offers learning, development, and advancement.

Make sure you prioritise a career that invests in yourself.

5. The perfectly imperfect career journey

It’s great to want more from your career.

But don’t get caught up in the quest for perfection.

That’s a losing battle and one that won’t serve you well.
