About the role

You’ll work closely with senior colleagues to deliver accounting and advisory services across a portfolio of privately owned New Zealand businesses.

This is a hands-on BAS position where you’ll take ownership of your work, develop strong client relationships and contribute across compliance, tax and broader business advisory matters.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns and management accounts.
• Managing day-to-day client relationships and responding to accounting and tax queries.
• Supporting clients with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow analysis.
• Helping clients understand their financial results and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Managing assignments to meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work.
• Working with senior colleagues to resolve technical accounting and tax matters.
• Supporting junior team members through guidance and feedback.
• Increasing your involvement in broader business advisory work as your client relationships develop.

About you

You’re an experienced BAS professional who enjoys working directly with clients and taking ownership of your work.

You combine sound technical knowledge with clear communication and a practical approach to solving problems.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Relevant BAS experience within a New Zealand accounting practice.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand accounting and tax requirements.
• A CA or CPA qualification, or be working towards completion.
• Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for business clients.
• Confidence using Xero and other accounting systems.
• Strong communication and client relationship skills.
• The ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently.
• An interest in developing your advisory skills and supporting junior team members.
