The role:
This is a newly created role within the organisation as it moves into an independent structure.  Reporting in to an Executive role, you will be part of the senior leadership team who are all motivated to make good changes with impact for both the business and the industry.
  
As the General Manager Sales (NZ); you will be responsible for:
  • The strategic analysis and activation of opportunities (current and future) as the market evolves.
  • Building and leading a high performance sales team which is very relationship focused and ambitious.  Part of this is developing an effective training and management strategy to ensure your people’s success. 
  • Overseeing the creation and implementation of the business development strategy.  
  • Managing the overall account management plan and forming long term relationships with key customers for the future.
  • Developing proposals for RFPs and ensuring they are of market leading quality.
  • Being an expert in market trends and competitor analysis in order to keep future focused and to maintain recognition as a leader in the industry.
  • Developing custom focused solutions for customers to deliver what is needed both today and into the future.
  • Delivering insightful and impressive sales reporting including marketing plans, sales and business development activities and reporting against targets.
  
Your profile:
Key to success in this role is a strong understanding of the electricity industry - you’ll likely have worked within the industry and already have extensive experience and relationships to draw on.  The organisation and industry is constantly evolving - there are numerous opportunities and so your expertise here is really important.
  
You’re an experienced sales and relationship management leader.  You’ve had extensive experience in leading sales teams and can set a clear team vision and help people to unpack their potential. You’re at home creating a sales team with a positive environment and working within KPI’s and budgetary targets to deliver success.  
  
You can evidence clear strategic thinking and the ability to visualise opportunities into the future.  You’re a big-picture thinker and a creator of opportunities - you’ll be commercial, relationship focused and a problem solver.
  
You’ve got extensive sales experience and relationships within the NZ energy market (metering experience might turn you into a unicorn!).  You’ve got strong commercial acumen and can identify new channels and market opportunities.
  
As a person - you’re the quintessential leader and team player.  You know that for success you need to empower and drive your team to collaborate and focus on relationship building.  You can work with ease with people at all levels of the organisation and industry.
  
You’re down to earth in approach and work with ease in a start-up environment - in fact you’ll enjoy the opportunity to work with less hierarchy and an increased focus on being nimble and solution focused.  You’re a strategic long term thinker who can anticipate opportunities into the future.
