This large farming business has grown over the years and has become one of the larger businesses of its size in New Zealand, Unusually for a business of this type, it’s base in Auckland.
With a number of farms, predominantly on the North Island, they have become known for quality people and quality operations.
In their head office, they have a high-quality finance team, you’ll be reporting directly to the HO Finance (ex Big4).
About the Role
This pivotal role will focus on enhancing operational performance by optimising business systems, reporting, and insights. You will be a key player in supporting decision-making processes by ensuring data accuracy, accessibility, and reliability. Your work will drive improvements in business performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Include
Data, Reporting & Business Insights:
Manage regular reporting rhythms (e.g., farm reports, manager reports, FARMAX). Provide timely business performance analysis, including benchmarking, cost tracking, gross margins, and more. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of key operational datasets such as livestock reconciliations, climate monitoring, and cropping activities.
Systems Management & Improvement:
Scope, propose, and implement systems that enhance business performance. Monitor, maintain, and improve systems and reporting processes. Conduct routine internal audits and ensure the timely close-out of corrective actions. Identify opportunities for automation and digital efficiency gains.
Technical Support & Adoption:
Troubleshoot system issues and act as the first point of contact for internal system-related queries. Support staff in adopting and using business systems effectively. Develop training materials and onboard new users.
So Who Are You And What Is Your Profile?
You’ll be a great communicator who is able to take ownership of their area.
- CA/CPA/ACCA qualification or similar in the data/systems field
- Good mix of finance, data and systems experience
- Great communication skills
- Ability to take ownership, with a solutions mindset
- Strong database skills (e.g. sql), PowerBI, etc
- Genuine interest in the sector.
- An ability to work 5 days a week in their CBD offices
