About the Role
This is a pivotal leadership position, overseeing payroll and billing operations across all 7 national branches. You’ll manage 3 dedicated payroll team members, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance with payroll legislation. Working closely with senior leaders, the role offers a rewarding mix of operational oversight, strategic input, and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 3 payroll staff, ensuring support and development
- Oversee weekly payroll and billing processes for 7 branches nationwide
- Ensure legislative compliance and act as escalation point for complex queries
- Evaluate systems and implement continuous process improvements
- Support budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting for senior stakeholders
- Proven people leader, with experience managing payroll or finance teams
- In-depth understanding of NZ payroll legislation and payroll systems
- Strategic thinker with excellent planning, problem-solving, and risk awareness
- Proficient in Excel and financial tools; Xero experience is a bonus
- Adept at managing volume and deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Strong communicator and relationship-builder across all levels
- Focused on continuous improvement with a systems-oriented mindset
- Highly organised, analytical, and committed to quality and accuracy
Salary for this opportunity is $80,000 p.a. (with some room for negotiation).
