Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation and Review of Tax Returns and Financial Statements: Responsible for the accurate preparation and comprehensive review of tax returns and financial statements for a wide range of entities, including companies, trusts, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and accounting standards.
- Advisory on International Tax Matters: Conduct in-depth tax research and provide expert advice on complex international tax issues. This includes interpreting and applying Double Tax Agreements (DTAs), advising on the tax implications of Foreign Investment Funds (FIFs), and assessing Controlled Foreign Company (CFC) regimes to ensure clients remain compliant with cross-border tax obligations.
- Management of Indirect Tax Compliance: Prepare and review indirect tax filings, including GST, PAYE, FBT, and other tax types. Ensure all returns are filed accurately and on time, mitigating risk and identifying potential tax efficiencies.
- Voluntary Disclosures and Risk Mitigation: Prepare and review formal voluntary disclosure letters to tax authorities, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and strategic positioning. Assist clients in resolving historical tax issues and mitigating penalties through proactive engagement with regulatory bodies.
- Preparation of Written Tax Advice: Draft high-quality, technically sound written tax advice for clients across a broad spectrum of issues, including tax residency, structuring, compliance, and tax implications of various transactions. Ensure all advice is well-researched, clearly communicated, and commercially relevant.
- Leadership in Training and Development: Lead and facilitate monthly internal tax training sessions for junior and intermediate staff. Develop training materials, present on emerging tax issues, and foster continuous professional development within the tax team.
- Prior tax compliance & advisory experience within a CA firm, preferably Big 4 or mid-tier firm would be ideal.
- Strong communication, client and stakeholder management experience.
- Experience in using Xero, APS, CCH and/or TaxLab
- You could be an experienced Tax professional currently looking to move from a commercial tax environment into practice.
- Experience in corporate compliance tax would be advantageous
