This is a newly created position with a well-established Australasian operation with an international customer base and a solid investment strategy. Reporting to the Tax Manager and based in modern offices on the city fringe, you’ll be responsible for assisting with tax compliance activities within New Zealand and Australia, exposing you to a variety of work in different tax types and several different stakeholder groups.
This is a great opportunity for an CA-qualified Tax Accountant with around 2 years PQE who may be working in a first or second-tier accounting firm and is seeking to progress their career within industry.

The Role  
Key responsibilities of the role include:
  • Supporting the Tax Manager to meet New Zealand and Australian tax compliance obligations by preparing direct and indirect tax returns
  • Reviewing and reconciling monthly tax provision calculations of the different business areas
  • Liaising with IRD and ATO to resolve tax issues
  • Providing assistance with international tax filing obligations
  • Assisting Human Resources and external advisors with expatriate taxes
  • Maintain updated tax knowledge and provide training to the business (opportunity for travel)
  • Building and managing relationships with stakeholders, external advisors and IRD
  • Ad hoc assistance with tax related-projects
The ideal candidate
Credentials sought from applicants in addition to the-above include:
  • Sound working knowledge of New Zealand tax-types and accompanying legislation and a rudimentary understanding of international tax (transfer pricing, cross-border & global mobility). Australian tax knowledge would be held in high regard, but not essential.
  • Intermediate to advanced-level Excel skills
  • Ability to communicated effectively at all levels within a multi-divisional, multi-stakeholder organisation
