Neptune Pacific Direct Line (NPDL) is experiencing a period of significant transformation. Formed in 2020, Neptune Pacific Line acquired Pacific Direct Line, bringing together two of the South Pacific’s top shipping and logistics companies to support the full supply chain of their customers in the region. With their New Zealand head office located in Parnell, on the fringe of the Auckland CBD, this is a great time to lead the accounting function for an organisation with a global footprint.
About the Role
This is a rare chance to lead the accounting function of a multinational business at a strategic level. You’ll be driving financial performance, governance, and transformation in a dynamic, high-impact role, while leading a large, geographically dispersed finance team. Reporting to the CFO, this role leads all accounting operations across a multinational enterprise, ensuring financial integrity and governance. You’ll drive transformation, standardisation, and automation while leading a high-performing, geographically dispersed team. This role will drive business performance, operational efficiency, and sound governance across NPDL’s shipping businesses, agencies and subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight of all accounting operations including month-end close, consolidations and reporting across multiple countries.
- Drive improvements in systems, internal controls, and reporting processes to support scalability and compliance.
- Oversee audit, statutory compliance, and adherence to multi-jurisdictional GAAP standards (NZ, IFRS, US).
- Partner across functions (Tax, Treasury, IT, Legal, Operations) to support strategic initiatives and accurate financial outcomes.
- Lead, structure, and develop high-performing teams, ensuring strong governance, innovation, and professional excellence.
You are CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent) with at least 15 years of progressive experience, including time spent in senior finance leadership roles within complex, global organisations. It would be a huge advantage if you have worked in the Shipping, Logistics or Transport sector or if you have had exposure to supply chain in large organisations.
You bring deep knowledge of IFRS, NZ GAAP, and multi-jurisdictional reporting, alongside a strong command of ERP systems (Oracle and CargoWise preferred), business intelligence tools, and automation. You have led M&A integration and treasury functions, overseen external audits, and successfully driven finance transformation initiatives. Commercially sharp and detail-oriented, you communicate with clarity and confidence, influencing senior stakeholders and boards. Most importantly, you’re a collaborative and inspiring leader who champions people development, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Whilst this role is high level and strategic, you will also be happy to get into the detail and won't be afraid to delve into issues as they arise.
