Contract Test Engineer



About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer with strong automation capability and a platform reliability mindset to join a modern SaaS environment. This role is not a pure DevOps position; however, it requires someone who is comfortable working across testing, automation, and platform health to ensure high system reliability and performance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a modernised technology stack, while the business continues to migrate customers from a legacy platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and continuously improve test strategies across both desktop and web-based applications
• Contribute to a balanced test approach, incorporating both manual and automated testing to ensure robust software delivery
• Design, maintain, and enhance automation frameworks, with a strong focus on Cypress
• Support quality initiatives within a modernised technology stack while assisting with the transition away from legacy systems
• Monitor and maintain platform health, including reviewing logs, metrics, alerts, and system behaviour to proactively identify risks
• Collaborate closely with Engineering and Product teams to validate features, troubleshoot issues, and drive quality improvements
• Utilise tools such as Cypress, Playwright, X-ray, and Jira to manage test cases, execution, and reporting

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in software testing, across web, desktop and mobile application testing experience.
• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks, particularly Cypress (Playwright also considered)
• Experience working within a SaaS environment, with an understanding of cloud-based delivery models (Azure), releases, and platform reliability
• Api Integration testing skill needed.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies, including .NET, Azure, and SQL.
• Experience working with logs, monitoring tools, and alerting systems to support platform stability
