The Role

Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their Asia Pacific team and lead their growth into the New Zealand market. This position is a good fit for a candidate who wants to work closely with retail clients as a trusted advisor. The BDM role requires a commercially minded individual, who radiates professionalism, and has a solid understanding of the major retail brands in NZ.

Reporting to the Business Development Partner for Asia Pacific you’ll be responsible for B2B sales, building your own pipeline through creating clear strategies to identify and then develop opportunities to grow business. With superb relationship building skills you’ll be adept at engendering credibility at a senior executive level and ideally you’ll be able to leverage the extensive networks you’ve already built in this market. This is all about solutions selling so while you’ll be hungry for that sale you’ll also understand the critical importance of listening to your customers, truly seeking to add commercial value to their businesses.

You have a real nose for new opportunities and are able to connect quickly as well as build successful client relationships with your consultative approach and winning personality. You will work with each new account win, understanding your customer and their needs thoroughly, fully integrating and converting the accounts into core business. You will assist the account management and customer service teams in the ongoing aspects of your accounts through
the partnerships you will have with your customer contact base.

You have proven experience in identifying, establishing and maintaining effective multi-point relationships within customer accounts. You understand and take a strong interest in your client’s business, having had previous success in converting opportunities into customers by selling a differentiated value, and service above your competitors. You are able to manage your own sales pipeline and also place high importance on customer satisfaction and have a great track record here.

About You

You will be a high achieving Business Development Manager with strong sales experience in the SasS/IT sector. You know the retail industry well, ideally having sold into it. You are someone who is comfortable dealing at c-suite level within large enterprises but can adapt well when dealing with engineers and ground-level technicians. You have a hunter mentality and the ability to develop key relationships that are built to last.

You are someone who is self-motivated and is outcome-focused who has no issues knocking down doors. You will have a proven track record in achieving targets and agreed short, mid and long term goals. You are customer focused with excellent communication skills with the ability to be influential and persuasive.
